Studio
Studio is the editor. It runs on your machine (npx openfilm open) and opens in your browser. It has four panes: Media, Viewer, Inspector and Timeline.
Media
Everything in the project: the folders under assets/ and every film page. Import files with the + button or by dropping them in. Drag a file onto the timeline to use it. Renaming or moving a file updates film.html with it.
Viewer
The film, playing. Click an element in the picture to select it; hover to see what you would select. Drag to move it, pull a corner to resize it. Double-click text to retype it in place.
Inspector
The properties of what is selected:
- For an element of a page: text, position, size, rotation, opacity, typography and fill. Colors open a picker with saturation, hue, opacity, an eyedropper and recent colors.
- For a clip: when it starts, how long it lasts, where it begins in its source, fades, and its transform.
Changes show in the picture while you drag and are saved when you let go.
Timeline
One row per track; the top track is drawn on top. Drag a clip to move it, drag an edge to trim it; edges snap to cuts and the playhead. Split with the scissors, undo and redo with the arrows.
Your edits and the agent's
Studio never rewrites a page. A change to an element is saved in film.html as an override on that clip: the selector, and what to change. The agent reads the same film.html, so it keeps your edits when it works on the film, and you can see every change in the file's history.
